Aerial Shots of Papua - Manokwari to Jayapura

The city of Manokwari disappearing below the wings ...Manokwari is the largest city in the province of West Papua.

A bay outside the city of Manokwari - the sea looks possibly full with coral.

As we left Manokwari towards Jayapura, the plane took a route over the ocean and we saw various little islands along the way.  Secluded and unoccupied, fancy a trip to a secret place?

Another little island along the coast between Manokwari and Jayapura.

Papua is full of forests and rivers, here's a meandering river leading straight out to sea between Manokwari and Jayapura.

The city of Jayapura, (the outer region, Sentani) surrounded by hills.

The soft, grass-covered hills surrounding the airport which is situated in Sentani just outside of Jayapura.

Danau Sentani or Sentani Lake, surrounded by undulating hills.

The area of Sentani, close to the airport.  Sentani has various hotels and restaurants for travellers wanting to stay closer to the airport.  Rooms can be found at the Hotel Sentani Indah, starting at 350,000 without breakfast, with wifi and swimming pool.  Other hotels including the more expensive Travellers Inn as well the cheaper, cosy and clean Rani Indah.
